About Otter Point Oregon

Otter Point State Recreation Site is a state park managed by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, offering scenic views, hiking trails, and access to secluded beaches.

The park itself sits on land traditionally belonging to the Tolowa Dee-ni’, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla nations.

Here’s what Otter Point State Recreation Site has to offer:

Spectacular views: The highlight of the park is the panoramic vista of the Pacific Ocean. You can see miles of coastline, dramatic sea stacks, and sandy beaches from the overlook.

Hiking trails: There are two main trails in the park. The Otter Point Trail is a short and easy hike that leads down to the overlook. The trail to Agate Beach is a bit steeper but takes you to a secluded beach perfect for tidepooling and beachcombing.

Secluded beaches: The park boasts two beautiful beaches. Otter Point itself sits high above Bailey Beach, which stretches for about 2 miles south. To the north lies Agate Beach, known for its sea stacks and driftwood. Both beaches are less crowded compared to other Oregon Coast beaches.

Wildlife viewing: Keep an eye out for whales, especially during the migration season (December to April). You might also spot sea lions, harbor seals, and various shorebirds.

Overall, Otter Point State Recreation Site is a perfect spot for a day trip or weekend getaway if you’re looking for stunning scenery, outdoor activities, and a relaxing escape.
